The unintended expatriate blogger behind Relocate & Thrive

Hello, I am Jordan
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in New York, United States.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn't in the plans for the long haul. As with many expatriate relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much more substantial.
The initial months were demanding—new processes, new habits, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than necessary.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines settled in. We found places that fit our needs, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Relocate & Thrive
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or superficial tourist content. What was missing was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap with practical tips drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Represents (And What It Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in United States continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in New York or anywhere in United States, please feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Jordan
